Conservation lessons at Matetsi
Children and teachers from two schools in the communities surrounding Matetsi Private Game Reserve were invited to partake in CC Africa's interactive conservation lessons. Expert CC Africa rangers took the excited group out for a fun-filled day where they shared their wealth of knowledge about the animals and the environment. The lessons are designed to dovetail with the local schools' natural science curricula, and provide hands-on experience in caring for the environment.
Goal is Life Soccer Challenge
In conjunction with CC Africa's "The Goal is Life" programme, Pollen Ndlanya (South African striker for the national soccer team) spent an exciting day encouraging and inspiring both the children and the staff of Matetsi Private Game Reserve to pursue goals in their lives. Pollen's arrival coincided with the nail-biting battle between the Matetsi soccer team and the 1st division Zigwa community team. He gave the team a motivational talk on team work, and the power of creating and achieving goals, which had a significant impact on the team's performance. The team played 'out of their boots' and beat the first division players despite their second division ranking, proving to themselves that anything is possible if you put your mind to it!
New Environmentally Friendly Motors
As we all look for ways to conserve our environment and protect this precious planet, Matetsi Private Game Reserve has already taken steps to help keep the waters of the Zambezi clean. The latest generation of boat engines have arrived at Matetsi! For the past decade, the Matetsi boats have been powered by noisy two stroke engines that run on a fuel and oil mixture. Unfortunately, burning oil results in smoke pollution ... hence the switch to four stroke engines. These new engines do not burn oil, they use less fuel, they are much quieter, and are therefore much more environmentally friendly. This is yet another example of CC Africa going the extra mile in order to make a difference!
