The volcanic highlands of Kilimanjaro support an array of localised montane species but the wonderful biodiversity of the geologically ancient Eastern Arc mountains is of particular conservation concern; numerous plants, birds and other fauna are endemic to the forested Usambara, Uluguru and Udzungwa mountains.
Situated at the remote southern end of the National Park, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge provides direct benefits and small business opportunities to the isolated Moyoka community. Guests at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge are invited to visit Moyoka, where CC Africa has recently helped with the planting of over 500 trees.
Guests at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge contribute park fees to the management of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and are encouraged to visit other attractions in this World Heritage Site such as the Oldupai Gorge and Olmoti Crater, as well as visiting the bountiful Crater floor.
Guests at Grumeti River Camp contribute park fees to the management of the vast Serengeti National Park which is responsible for all aspects of safeguarding this globally-important ecosystem.
Guests at Klein's Camp may visit successful community projects in the Olosokowan village where the Africa Foundation has been instrumental in consultative development projects including a honey project, clinic and school.
Mnemba's fragile coral reefs support a huge diversity of fish and other sea life, while the beaches are a favoured breeding ground for threatened Green Turtles. Mnemba regularly hosts or facilitates the work of marine scientists working on the reefs.
Much excitement surrounded the unveiling of a smart new ambulance at the Ololosokwan Clinic in June 2006. The ambulance was donated by Africa Foundation, our social development partner, and sourced and prepped by Klein's Camp. The innovative staff from Klein's Camp, situated in a remote corner of Tanzania's game rich northern Serengeti, sourced and converted a 4x4 safari vehicle into an ambulance, providing the clinic with a means to access the communities it serves.
The clinic supplies approximately 10 000 people from the neighbouring communities with basic health care, family planning and AIDS awareness.
