POSITIVE HEALTH

Our Positive Health Programme

Inspired by David Patient (the world's longest HIV-positive survivor) and Neil Orr (a research psychologist), CC Africa's 'Positive Health' programme was launched in 2003 to enlighten all our staff, and their extended families, about the benefits of good health. Wellness workshops, dietary supplements and reading material and have been provided to all
CC Africans.

More About Positive Health:

The HIV/Aids pandemic is crippling Africa, with around 20% of the population in southern Africa estimated to be HIV positive. Awareness of the disease is the first step in taking preventative measures. Anti Retroviral drugs can extend the life of individuals with full-blows Aids, but a healthy immune system is critical in order to combat the virus and other diseases.

CC Africa has committed over US$100 000 to the initial training and support of its Positive Health programme, and all our lodges are now building on this platform. For sustaining wellness, it is essential that staff plant vegetable gardens, maintain healthy lifestyles together with a positive and optimistic outlook and avail themselves of all learning opportunities offered to them by CC Africa in this regard.

The Goal Is Life

Hope, Dreams and Purpose CC Africa has tapped into the fierce passion that both our staff and communities share for 'The Big Game of Soccer' with our internal 'Goal is Life' programme. This project encourages our staff to celebrate their culture, to indulge their passions and to realize and unleash their abilities and talents.

With 'Goal is Life' CC Africa aims to reignite the desire for healthy living within our communities, ultimately increasing the number of people who take advantage of our Positive Health programme. We believe that if a person has a goal worth living for - and this is no mean undertaking for many of our staff and their families living with dread diseases - there will undoubtedly be a significant impact on the overall morale and health of the communities surrounding our lodges.

'The Goal is Life' involves soccer challenges within our numerous lodges. The overall winner shall be given the ultimate honour of winning tickets to the World Cup Soccer held in South Africa in 2010! Who said dreams don't come true?

And to everyone's great excitement, we have brought in local and international soccer hero's to inspire our staff to greatness, to motivate and encourage budding dreams and ambitions.

For those who don't play soccer, CC Africa's 'Sing for Life' programme has challenged our staff to set our lodges alight with beautiful harmonies, voices and dancing. The choirs shall put together a symphony of songs from different categories, displaying their wealth of talent, beauty and culture. The competition aims to recognize and reward talent, perseverance and hard work and promises to instill pride and honour in the hearts of all CC Africans.
