At every CC Africa lodge, and at all of the company's regional offices, a group of volunteers among the staff take on the role of environmental watchdogs. These "Green Teams" raise awareness among all staff, and ensure that environmentally-friendly policies are implemented and adhered to.
Issues such as water and energy use, waste removal and invasive plant control are high on the agenda of all the Green Teams which compete each year for the company's Getty Green Lodge Award. Town-based Green Teams not only encourage environmentally-responsible energy and waste use in offices, but also raise funds for local charities. By encouraging staff to make a personal commitment to Green Team activities, CC Africa fosters a culture of care and responsibility towards the natural world and the vital ecological processes upon which all humans are ultimately dependent.

The creation of a 'conservation ethic' is key to CC Africa's philosophy, and Green Team members influence and educate their colleagues and extended families in topics such as water consumption, soil erosion, tree planting, invasive plant control, hazards of poisons, and the protection of wildlife.
Green Teams are responsible for managing an environmental audit at every CC Africa lodge, constantly striving to reduce impacts in natural ecosystems and provide holistic, sustainable support to surrounding villages. The annual Getty Green Lodge award is presented to the Green Team which has made the most significant progress throughout the year.
