The world's greatest reserves of diamonds probably occur beneath the sands of the central and southern Kalahari. The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park spans Botswana and South Africa, conserving a massive ecosystem of migratory herbivores, large predators and a surprising diversity of reptiles and birds. Small numbers of SanBushmen cling to their ancient traditions in the central Kalahari.
Like their counterparts at all other CC Africa lodges, guides at Nxabega benefit from training programs and inputs from experienced members of the company's field department. Internet technology allows the guides to contribute wildlife observations to the company's wildwatch.com website, and provides access to information on wildlife and other topics.
Built around the vegetation, rather than clearing trees, Sandibe contributes greatly to CC Africa's core principles of Care of the Land, Care of the Wildlife, Care of the people. In its financial support and personal committment programmes, Sandibe has contributed significantly towards improving the prosperity of surrounding rural communities and the environment.
In operating Nxabega, CC Africa keeps environmental impacts to a minimum. The lodge itself has been built around the vegetation rather than clearing trees. All dry waste is packaged and sent to recycling plants in Maun, while wet waste is compacted and enclosed in hyena-proof containers. Guides are sent on courses to increase their knowledge of, and sensitivity towards, the environment.
