We also recognise that much of Africa’s wildlife heritage and land is influenced or owned by local communities. Our model - successfully implemented throughout our lodges in Africa - is based on a set of operating guidelines which is overseen by a conservation manager but implemented at lodges by dedicated and accountable Green Teams made up of CC Africa staff.
In order to achieve such a successful model in sustainable ecotourism, CC Africa has partnered with and supports a number of environmental and non-governmental organisations.
The Africa Foundation is registered in South Africa as a non-profit organisation. Their mission is to facilitate the empowerment and development of people living in or adjacent to specific rural communities by forging unique partnerships between conservation initiatives and communities.
CC Africa launched a Positive Health programme in 2003. The programme focuses on workshops and conferences providing staff at CC Africa lodges home-based care, garden up-keep, counselling techniques and gender issues.
CC Africa strongly believes in its people and was recently listed as one of three finalists in the Investor in People category of the 2005 Tourism for Tomorrow Awards. Green Teams comprise staff from all departments and receive support, feedback and resources from CC Africa's field office.
